Dr. David Pelrmutter was a great interview today. Please download the show and listen to his clear, concise and informative answers to my questions. He offers a lot of hope for all of us who fear an aging process that could bring with it dreaded things such as Alzheimer’s and Dementia. David is the perfect poster child for my radio show tag line–What you can do for your health that your doctor can’t. More doctors need to become advocates for prevention and wellness medicine, which I believe is their true passion and calling.
I speak for all the physicians that I have interviewed–approximately 200 in the last 3 years–when I say that they were called to be healers very early in life. One recalled that she was only five years old when she knew she wanted to heal people. Doctors never had a calling to write prescriptions! I am not an extremist who only advocates for natural everything. I believe in pharmaceuticals when they are necessary. I just suffered for several days with an abscessed tooth and if it weren’t for my terrific biological dentist and penicillin, I would still be in a lot of pain.
Let’s all help Dr. Perlmutter move our medical system in the right direction. Become a lifelong learner. Do your homework. Read books on health by pioneering physicians like Dr. Perlmutter and Dr. William Davis, author of Wheat Belly (my guest for next week’s show). Investigate why lifestyle changes can positively alter the destiny of your health. Experiment with good health and enter into a partnership with your doctor–such as the one that Dr. Diana Hoppe suggested on last week’s show.
We can make a difference. We can change the future of medicine if we demand that our physicians keep us healthy. The huge numbers of Americans that suffer from chronic diseases today will keep plenty of physicians occupied with their specialties in crisis management.
